how to remove read-only from SD card (besides the side switch)

Hi,

I'm shooting short videos and at one point I do recall that I could move items to Trash from my SD card on my computer to clear it but not now. The option is not available. Can I get this back? It would help greatly. I do know how to reformat the card but would like to do some of the trashing on my computer.

I have two Lexar SD Platinum II 32 GB cards and neither let me move anything to trash. The only way is on my camera which is more cumbersome for checking before trashing.

Any help is appreciated. Also, from my Internet searches I'm not alone but I haven't seen a good solution. Hoping to get one here.

The side switch is irrelevant with this on my computer. I tried it in both positions. Unless, there is something else I don't know about it.

iTunes and external HDD

I have moved some downloaded movies to an external drive wanting to give me more space of the internal HDD of my Mac Mini. My question is this: Can i safely delete the movies from my internal HDD (iTunes Library)? Should i then want to watch the copy located on the External drive, how do i do that? When I try to open the movie, the app VLC (a video Player) opens but the movie doesn't play. Thank you in advance, cheers and beers :confused:

spinning disc - ram use question

Hi,

I am frequently getting the spinning disc lock up and usually it releases but sometimes not. This may be a silly question but would 3.99 or 4 gig of RAM being used be the issue?

I only had Firefox open, 4 o 5 tabs and the activity monitor which said it was only using about 46% or so of overall CPU. The amount of available RAM became nearly 4 gig when I quit Firefox. With just ehmac open now, I'm using 1.57 GB.

I'm wondering if I double the RAM from 4 to 8, I will see less of the spinning disc. But I also see that my machine is considered antique now. It's a 2010 with Snow Leopard.

Any thoughts anyone? Thanks!

Mid 2012 MacBook pro dual monitor

google chrome - spyware ransomware

I use safari - for everything..
except for the 2 websites out there that still use flash, i use chrome..

I believe my chrome is messed up..
each time I use it, within 2 mins i receive a pop up asking that I call an 800 number or update some obscure plug in that I dont use..

is there a way to pave it to go back to default ? or factory reset. and none of the ad medic etc find anything on my computer.

Glitch saving Mail messages in Text Edit

For years I’ve been accustomed to selecting and saving groups of Apple Mail messages in Text Edit, using Mail’s Save As and choosing Rich Text Format. Up to now it’s been a fuss-free process. Now, however, Mail saves the selected messages in an .rtfd file, but they’re all out of date order, and sometimes some of the selected messages are not saved. Any suggestions?

Syncing music to iphone6s

I have an iMac running 10.6.8 with iTunes version 11.4 (latest). I just got an iPhone 6S running IOS9. I would like to sync my music on my iMac to the iPhone. When I try to sync, message says my iTunes needs updating. When I try to update iTunes, it says I am up to date. I am at a loss. I would like to stay with OSX 10.6.8. What are my options?

6 and 8 pin PCIe Graphic cards

I just got this "Zotac GTX 770 4GB" from Nvidia and just hit a nice Stone wall as i found out that card has 2 power connection a 6 pin and an 8 pin.

i have read in some place that i could fry the mother "in time" if i use an 8 and 6 pin to power up that card. some say that you can use the 6 pin and use an external power supply to feed the 8 pin.

Now is this card even compatible with the mac pro 2010 model? would be worth to have an ugly power supply to power the 8 pin connection.

I mean that i bought that card just because it is a 4gb and would be great to play my games in better resolutions

Bluetooth Keyboard with my Mac mini

I usually have no trouble pairing my bluetooth keyboard with my mac mini. However, i found that yesterday when i paired the bluetooth keyboard with my iPad it worked just fine. Then, today when i booted up into my mac mini the keyboard refused to pair up with my machine...it finally did after several attempts. Have any of the members of the group had this same problem and what did you do to fix it? I went into keyboard preferences but the processs seemed to still take a long time. I checked the batteries, they are fine. Cheers and beers to all...cherry blossoms are beginning to bloom in parts of Japan...although it is still chilly at night.:)

I have several book chapters that were sent to me as PDFs for each chapter. Any pointers on importing them into either Pages or iBooks Author, in order to make one 'Book' out of them?

Ken Howard dies after 45-year career on stage, screen

Ken Howard, the strapping character actor who starred in the 1970s TV drama The White Shadow and was currently serving as president of SAG-AFTRA, has died at age 71.

The union announced Howard's death Wednesday. No cause was given.

Howard's career spanned four decades in TV, theatre and film. In the acclaimed CBS series The White Shadow, which aired from 1978-81, he starred as a white coach to an urban high school basketball team — a part, one of Howard's best known, that drew on the personal history of the 6-foot-6 actor, who played basketball growing up on Long Island in New York and at Amherst College.

The series' title came from Howard's nickname as the only white starter on the Manhasset High varsity team.

MAC Pro RAM compatibility and performance

I was thinking of taking 8 GB (4 X 2 GB) of 667 mhz RAM out of my Mac Pro 1,1 and putting it in my Mac Pro 3,1. It would give me 16 GB of RAM instead of 12 GB. I understand that the 667 mhz RAM will underperform in the newer box.

Would the addition of 4GB of slower RAM be worth the switch?

Mac Mini won't start up

I have an older Mac Mini (got it in 2011) and i shut it down yesterday and it won't start today.

I push the power button and a small white light come on on the front but nothing else happens.

Any suggestions or should I take it in for someone to look at?

Setting up Skype on MacMini

Well more the hardware like a mike and a webcam.

What do people use and/or recommend.

The Macmini is a 2.5

Initially I was thinking of getting a USB headphone/mike plus a webcam but now I see that at last some webcams come with a built-in mike.

I also want to use as few USB ports as possible, so for the headphone/mike I was thinking bluetooth might be better.
But for the webcam I assume a USB connection is a must.

Also don't want to spend too much money since I will only be using this very rarely

One recommended webcam I came across is te Logitech C310.
Priced at around $45 with a built in mike - sort of my ballpark

85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter for 13" MBP

I'm considering purchasing a spare MagSage Power Adapter for my newest 13" MBP and, as I did with my mid-2010 MBP, I'd like to get the 85W adapter (meant for the 15" MBP). The price is the same and my thinking is, if I ever upgrade to a 15", then it will work, but the 65W will not. Is there any problems nowadays with using an 85W adapter on the 13" MBP?

One person is dead following a shooting at the Muslim Cemetery outside Calgary, approximately one kilometre east of the community of Cochrane.

Calgary police said four people were shot and are being treated in hospital after a shooting broke out around 3:35 p.m. RCMP said one of the victims appeared to be dead.

Cochrane RCMP said in a release, “there is no immediate danger to the public.”

A witness, who did not wish to be identified, said she heard two gunshots during a large funeral at the cemetery.

She said at the end of the funeral, a skirmish broke out. That’s when she heard two or three gunshots and saw people start running.

By the time police showed up, she said everyone was gone.

IPhone needs to verify icloud account

My sister gave me her old iPhone 5, but didn't do a reset nor turn off fond my phone.

So I asked her her apple ID password, tested on icloud.com and confirmed it works. But iPhone keeps saying the password entered is incorrect, so I am still unable to turn off find my phone to do a reset. :(
