Ultimate Libertarian currency system?

I'm curious as to the impressions fellow ehMaccians may have of this non-governmental currency system.

In principle, it seems to have solved one of the problems I have always had with extreme Libertarianism, which is that a common currency is important for an efficient economy, and that necessitates a one of the functions of government that to which I've never seen a realistic alternative before.

Epson Printer "Mismatch between the paper type..."

Bought a new Epson ET-2720 printer which features a small message display. Any time I select photo paper for printing, the Epson print utility tells me: "Mismatch between the paper type settings on your computer and the printer." The printer then refuses to print because of the "mismatch."

I called Epson for clarification and their explanation, as best as I can understand, is that I have to first choose the paper type through the print utility on my computer, and then choose it again using...

Which brokerage do you use for trading stocks or are you using one of the big banks? Can one have an American trading account, to take advantage of the (perceived) lower trade costs?

Why is my screen gone?

I know there's a simple answer to this--which will make me feel like a simple-ton! MacOS 10.13.6. MBP 15" 2015.

Sometimes I drag a window to the right side (have not observed this on left) & my entire Desktop is gone along with all its open application windows. This must be a feature not a bug!

To get my Desktop back, I need to quit the open application window & then click on another application in the Dock.

How do I turn this 'feature' OFF? It only happens to me unintentionally but my...

Apple Watch and irregular heartbeat

I am always getting notifications of either extremely low heart (47 bpm) rate or extremely high (137 bpm). Only started about several months ago. I'm sure my heart rate is none of those. Does anyone else have their Apple Watch erroneously reporting on such rates? Now, I should say, I'm assuming it's "erroneous." I have my Watchband the same tightness as I did when first wearing. Can't imagine how it could be a loose band issue.

Trackpad issues

Not sure when this started, but I've been getting random gestures occurring with my trackpad without any clicking, both in Finder and elsewhere such as in browser. I check the Trackpad settings and can't see anything there that would pertain to the issue. I'm running MacOS 11 on my early 2015 MBP. It's not a swollen battery as I had the battery replaced 3 years ago. I believe, once or twice, a file in the Finder was "misplaced" because of this. Not good. Any suggestions?

More racist attacks in the USA

A bunch of folks were murdered by a guy who claims it wasn't about racism, but... c'mon....

And now in San Francisco, two attacks on senior citizens who are asian, one 83, the other 76. But in this case, the attacker ended up in the hospital.

iPad Pro Battery Health

I've noticed my iPad Pro battery has been draining quite a bit just by sitting idle.
Fired up Coconut Battery today and saw that my iPad Pro battery health is down to 60%. That doesn't look too good. It's only 4 yrs old and, as you can see on the attached image, it's hasn't gone through very many charging cycles. I'm wondering if I should try a iCloud backup and full restore, as I saw someone suggest for an iPhone with a similar issue. The iPad batteries should, what I would think, last...

External HD - transferring iPhoto libraries??

I have a new iMac now but saved the old 2TB HD from my now retired Mac Pro. Now I am attempting to move files from the HD to the iMac...specifically the iPhoto libraries.
I have the old HD installed in and connected to the iMac via an external drive mechanism.

When I first tried to open iPhotos on the new iMac, it couldn't find the iPhoto libraries (because the HD wasn't yet physically connected). Now it is connected and this drive has been chugging away for hours without much in the way...

FS: Airport Extreme 4th gen, Airport Express 2nd gen $100

Hi folks.

Once upon a time, I was username "razz" on these forums but that account is locked or something else entirely. So here I am!

I've been going through my electronics and found my Airport units. I purchased a newer AE (the tall unit) years ago and no longer need these two.

The Airport Extreme (802.11n, model ID A1354) is 4th generation and the Express (802.11n, model A1392) is 2nd generation. Both of them support 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

Both have been stored for some time. Both power on...

Retrieving a deleted text message

Hey all,

In a moment of brain fog, I accidentally deleted a text thread that dates back 15 years or so. I know you're thinking, well easy enough, reinstall from backup and problem solved. Well... problem is the most recent backup is a month ago and I've had many new messages since then I don't wish to wipe out.

I've been sniffing around and I found an app called Phone Rescue from a company called iMobie. They seem to get decent reviews from a variety of sources and it's relatively...

Honda My Generator app in Canada?

I'm about to buy a Honda Generator from the US (particular bluetooth model not offered in Canada) and it can be operated with the My Generator app, but I can't find it on the App Store. If it's not offered in the Canada App Store, does anyone know how I might be able to gt that installed on my iPhone?

Photoshop and M1 Macs - news

Adobe Photoshop updated for native Apple Silicon support - with caveats

Adobe has updated the venerable Photoshop app for Apple Silicon — but it also says that there are "minor feature differences" when running natively.

With the March 2021 update, Adobe claims that the Apple Silicon version of Photoshop runs at "1.5X the speed of similarly configured previous generation systems." But, there are missing...

I haven't been a member long, I don't do paypal so I can't be a sponsored member and I no to little about everything.

Since when do True mac owners start behaving like a bunch of PC owners at a flee market ?

Is it possible to run two versions of OSX on one mac?

I have El Capitan and mac works great. No issues

However, there is a program I need for work and I can only run it on 10.14+

Can I run two OS's on a single mac? I have a late 2009 Mac Pro so plenty of room to add
another hard drive.

Its a silly reason to keep capitan, butI have some older games on Capitan that I fear may not work if I upgrade.

Issue with Apple Watch storage constantly filling up.

Hello,

I'm having an issue with my wife's Apple Watch Series 1 and was hoping someone here may be able to help me as my 2 attempts at Apple support helping me and my own troubleshooting has not solved anything thus far. What happens is that the watch's internal storage get's completely full with who knows what. I've checked to see what is using up the space, but when I add everything up that's taking up space together I get less than 200MB used, and because the watch's storage is full it...

2015 MBP replace SSD possible?

I use a dandy, little third-party app called SSDReporter. My SSD rating has been steadily dropping. I'm now at 80% of new with a wear levelling count of 180.

As I live in a place with plenty of expert options, I'm thinking of getting my 1TB SATA (?) replaced with 2TB. Is this even possible?

If so, I'd appreciate knowing what kind of SSD my Mac has inside so I can buy a replacement. TIA!

Who will be inaugurated U.S. President 20 Jan 2005?

I love ehMac! And now I'm ready to post my first topic.

It's obvious I'm not the only one in this family who is fascinated by U.S. politics. We're making comments and prognosticating all over the place.

I thought it might be fun to start a thread where each of us who likes this stuff would state his/her prediction as to who will be POTUS this time next year.

The winners will receive bragging rights which may used to annoy the rest of the ehMacers right up to the 2008 election...

Studio patch bay question

For people experienced with studio set-ups, I am looking to set up a video patch bay/panel. Is the only difference between an analog video and audio patch bay that the back connectors are XLR versus BNC? Seems like most of the panels I see set up use 1/4-inch phono connectors in the front. I've also seen people use the type of connector that has a small slit in it. Duckbill? Any advantages between the two?
