Don't update El Capitan 10.11.6 on MBP circa 2016?

The only thing I see as a hassle is Google Drive not backing up and syncing, but otherwise I only use my MBP for streaming tennis, internet and MS Office.

Is it worth updating my OS to Sierra? Someone warned me that if I did that, my MBP would run incredibly slower.

Apple TV - audio and video out of sync

This problem has been getting worse and worse. Now we are to the point of watching a show for 15 sec before it goes out of sync. Then after 30 min - the video freezes while the audio marches merrily on. After that, the video is difficult to take off air play. It also takes an inordinate amount of time for the video to buffer initially.
I don't know what version of Apple TV we have. We are streaming from iPads. All softwares are up to date.

Any help would be appreciated

thank you

Issue with Apple Watch storage constantly filling up.

Hello,

I'm having an issue with my wife's Apple Watch Series 1 and was hoping someone here may be able to help me as my 2 attempts at Apple support helping me and my own troubleshooting has not solved anything thus far. What happens is that the watch's internal storage get's completely full with who knows what. I've checked to see what is using up the space, but when I add everything up that's taking up space together I get less than 200MB used, and because the watch's storage is full it...

Not a big fan of the look, but I have seen worse. Biggest problem: They got rid of the little EhMac guy. He needs to be in that header.

get iMessages over to new iPad

In setting up my old iPad Pro for my wife, everything in iCloud synced over just like expected. Since her old iPad 2 didn't store iMessages in the cloud, there are now no messages in her Messages app. How might one sync those over?

new 12.9 iPad Pro setup

Just had my iPad Pro delivered after a rather lengthy wait. I ordered about 20 minutes after pre-order started.
Anyways, I want to start off on the right foot. I can put my old iPad Pro next to it to set it up apparently. Or, would it be better to set it up as a new one and not carry over anything but redownload and install all my purchased apps? The only real database I have for any app would be with DevonThink-To-Go. All the other apps have data stored in the Cloud, Dropbox, etc.

New Mac blocker & Meteorologist update

Tried on Roadblock recently. Very costomisable & the best blocker I've used on Safari. (Damn you, Adguard!)

Yahoo! weather stopped working so lonsstanding, beloved, free & open-source weather app, Meteorologist, released a beta on Sourceforge & switched to commercial outfit Visual Crossing for weather data. There are some snags still but they're getting there. Best weather app anywhere.

Accidental drop of HDD while connected to Macbook Pro

I had an external magnetic hard drive hooked up to my old 2007 MBP with the notebook sitting on my lap in the living room. I was watching TV at the time while transferring some video files to the external HDD. I watched more TV for some more minutes then decided to take a washroom break. I forgot that the external HDD was still connected. As soon I moved the MBP to the side, the USB cable dragged the external HDD along and the enclosure dropped to the carpet. Uh oh. The external HDD...

New Mac mini, "Unified memory", upgradable?

Hi all
I'm considering buying a new Mac Mini that comes with "unified memory". Is this upgradable in the future or is this memory soldered to the main board? Same with the ssd drive, upgradable?

Safari windows

There are many issues which require quitting all open applications, clearing the caches (thank you, OnyX!) & restarting, including just general cleanup & maintenance.

I use a great little app called SafariTabList which records my open tabs every morning at 10am. Works great.

But I'd like to be able to restore my windows on restart. Chrome, Firefox, Opera, all do this. Is there an easy way to save my Safari windows?

Looking for a place to post a new story, and none of the existing threads seemed to fit. So here's a catch-all thread with a broader title.

For reference, here are other threads from the past five years dealing with issues pertaining to our solar system, space exploration, astronomy, etc.:

Safari isn't rendering images....

I really like Safari. It's my default browser, I'm comfortable with its UI, etc.

But dammit if it isn't one of the least capable browsers out there. It's the reason I keep Firefox and Chrome installed, just to deal with websites that Safari refuses to work with.

I know, I know - it's an issue of developers not properly implementing web standards, yadda yadda yadda. Maybe the folks who coded this page are still using MSIE 6.0. Wouldn't surprise me, having worked with their IT dept. in the...
