Epson V750 scanner recognized intermittently

I have an Epson V750 scanner that is intermittently not recognized by my Mac Pro. If I temporarily unplug the USB cable or following a power outage, Epson Scan and Image Capture won't see it or be able communicate with it. Sometimes, even the profile for the V700/750 disappears from the System Preference setting for Printers and Scanners.

Strangely enough, if I plug the USB cable into my MacBook and attempt a single scan using Image Capture, then plug the USB cable back into the Mac Pro...

tplinkrepeater.net | tplink extender setup- login - 192.168.0.254

During the configuration of the Smart connect in a Tp-link range extender, a user has to make sure that the SSID name used by both the frequency bands should be different to recognize the band with which you are currently connected. Smart connect feature won’t work if the SSID names of both the Wi-fi bands of your extender will be same. Smart connect is enabled by default and can be configured through the web interface of your tplinkrepeater.net.

Outlook keeps giving message about attachment to large to send

As the title says I am getting an error message pop up saying an email cannot be sent because an attachment is too large. What it does not tell me or show me is what email. This is the latest version of outlook. I have no outgoing folder or anything like that, just the usual inbox, drags, archive, sent, etc. I did see an email in my drafts folder that had an attachment that was 200+ mb and I deleted that. Not sure if that is the culprit though and I get the message still. My googling on this...

Mac Mini won't copy files

I use my 2018 Mac Mini as a video & music server, running MacOS 10.12. That requires copying files from external hard disks onto it.

In the last few days, I can't copy files from my external disks to Mini.

Restart, no help. OnyX no help.

Tried to zap the PRAM but I presume Apple's USB keyboard does not permit that function because it refused to chime. (Is there a way to reset the PRAM elsewise?)

Have not tried resetting SMC. Is there any next step save reinstalling the system in Recovery...

How to migrate email folders to new iMac?

I'm migrating my graphic design work from my old 24" 2012 iMac to a 27" iMac this week. It's been a long time since I did this so I hope it goes well.
My Apple mail is working with both devices and I can send/reply from both. Of course.
:D

Yet, how do I keep/transfer my dozens of mail folders on my old iMac, that I keep for various projects, to show up on my new iMac? Some are emails that are years old that I...

The Anti Progressive Thread

So, it seems that some want their own little safe space where they can all bask in the glow of socialism without reproach, 'cause everyone who shows up with facts automatically qualifies as a "lecturer" and a "troll" & the micro-aggressions give them headaches. Wah frickin' wah...

Fine.

This thread is where we'll dissect that little utopia into it's distinct parts & feed it back to them, tenfold.

Everyone welcome here. If you can defend your position with facts, post something. If you...

The Education Thread

In the "Deep Thoughts" thread the issue of education and who pays for what etc., etc. came up. it was interesting, a lot of hyperbole and not much fact/data. But it is indeed a very, very important subject. I thought it warranted its own thread to fully discuss the matter without disrupting the "Deep Thoughts" thread needlessly.

So for those who are game, let's have at 'er.

compressing m4v file

Hello all

We're having difficulty compressing m4v files for emailing on our iMac 10-12.6. 180 mB. Photos 2.0.
I can follow the compress steps and all seems to be well. There is a message that the file is being compressed and it is saved as a .zip file but after the process it's still 180mB.

I do have Switch on this MBP but I'm not sure which format to switch to so that it's really compressed. And it would be nice if I could do it on the iMac.

Also looking for your thoughts on...

Suggestions please on how to add more storage to my system.

I would like to have about 8TB of hard drive space which can be accessed by ethernet and WIFI by my desktop, laptop, Ipads and tablets. NAS haven't been the answer. Either they have a weird file system or they will not allow access if the user is using a VPN and or a firewall. Don't want/need remote access beyond the boundaries of my property. Prefer a system that is KISS (Keep It Simple cause I'm Stupid).

Afffinity software

I've been using Adobe CS6 programs for a long time as a free lance designer. They work well for me and are stable. Being semi retired now, I don't want to buy Creative Cloud. However, my iMac & Mac Book Pro can't go past High Sierra and are getting years old. So, I purchased the Affinity suite and will learn how they work hoping the will work on a newer Mac. Has anyone have experience with this software in terms of desktop publishing - brochures, folders, posters that will be printed in...

MacMail Leopard issue

Hi,

MacMail has rarely been a problem for us with previous version of the Mac OS, however, now that two PowerBooks have been updated here in the office, they refuse to automatically download mail. That is, if the users want to check for new mail, they have to quit and restart MacMail. Once up, it takes a few more seconds, and then, finally, new mail arrives.

Nothing has changed mail server-wise, incoming or outgoing.

Anyone have any idea why this may be happening?

Thanks in advance.

Electric Car = Bad Idea

Is it just me or are electric cars a bad idea; I mean plug in the wall fully electric cars like GM is pursuing...think it's called the volt. This car does have the ability to charge on fuel but cann plug into a 110-volt outlet.

With energy crisis an everyday phrase, how is this anywhere near a good idea? Will it actually offset the cost of refining fuel if people are using less fuel? Doubt it, doubt it woud make a dent in fuel consumption unless all vehicles on the road make this change...

Continual delivery status notification (failure)

I keep getting these emails from mailer-daemon@googlemail.com telling me that my email sent was not delivered because the address cannot be found. It’s an email that I myself have not sent to an address (csonni…..) that I never have created. How do I find out what, in my network, is sending emails to an email address that does not exist? I can’t find any such emails being sent from my Mail accounts.
