cannot get OS X iMessages to work

So I have my iPhone 5S and Retina iPad mini, they both get my iMessages, but I just cannot get iMessage (8.0 (4218) ) on my Retina MacBook Pro to receive them. Using the same apple ID in OS 10.9.1



Any thoughts or suggestions to what I can do to get them to all be in sync?
