So I recently picked up an LED headlight. Very bright beam from 5 LED bulbs, adequate for camping or night biking. Five bulbs, claims to be good for 17 hours battery life (3 alkaline AAAs) on the bright setting. My other LED flashlights are not as bright and I would guess they are good for 2 hours on a set of AAA HD batteries.
To me once the light dims noticeably that is it for the batteries. So is that battery life claim gross exaggeration or is there really that much more power stored in alkaline batteries? Are they simply referring to the time until the light fades completely to black? A snowballs chance in parliament the claim is accurate?
