SSD questions

My son is upgrading his PC and has given me a 2yr old OCZ Vertex Plus 240 SSD!



My plan is to install it in my Late 2009 MacBook.



The following is my planned workflow -

• Connect SSD using NewerTech Universal USB cable set


• Format the SSD to Mac OS Extended (Journaled)


• Install OSX Yosemite.


• Migrate the contents of my current current HD


• Swap SSD into MB in usual HD place.

Questions??

• Should I enable TRIM using TrimEnabler? I think I have read all the caveats....


• Is there anything I should know about this drive?

Future plan is to replace the optical drive with a 500Gig HD (already in hand) using an OWC DataDoubler for documents and media libraries,
