Hi everyone,
I just purchased a new MacBook Pro and I'm hoping someone can help me out with a connectivity and compatibility question.
I've been using a 2014 MacBook Pro along with an Elgato Thunderbolt 2 dock for ages nowthe dock connects my 2014 MBP to speakers, an external (Dell) display and my external hard drive, so that I can use one cord to power my entire desktop setup.
I was hoping I might be able to keep using the dock with the 2020 MBP as well, but I'm wondering if it's simply obsolete now. Would a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter daisy-chained to the dock (which uses a Thunderbolt 2 cable from dock to computer) still work, or is that not possible?
I have a USB C to Mini Displayport cable that doesn't seem to work at all, and would rather not invest in a Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter if it's incompatible. And I would really like to not have to invest another $300 in an upgraded dock...
Any help would be super appreciated!
Erica
