iCloud Contacts troubleshooting

Seems as though relegating my Contacts to iCloud was working fine, until I just noticed that a Contact of mine has gone missing (and I wonder how many more!). Any ideas of how to begin troubleshooting in this issue? I'm not sure if I originally created that Contact on my iPhone or my Mac, but it shouldn't really matter, should it? This is rather disconcerting as I wonder how many other Contacts will follow suit. Up until a couple of months ago, I was very hesitant to use iCloud for my Contacts due to something like this. Any help would be appreciated.
