So I'm on this back up lap as I took the queen mother 17 in for a repair ($60 part AND service!) and I'm on an old, 13.3 Black Macbook. Can't recall the admin password for the life of me and I don't have the install disc.
So I've looked it up and read some solutions but it looks like they've not been slam dunks. Some lost files, some couldn't get it to work, and others were successful.
Also found this which has been getting some mixed results/reviews as well.
Has anyone had to do this? And do any of you have any insight as to why some of the solutions out there have such varying results??
Thx!

Code:
1. Reboot
2. Hold apple key + s key down after you hear the chime.
(command + s keys on newer Macs)
3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
mount -uw /
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
shutdown -h now
4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and your good to go again! Also found this which has been getting some mixed results/reviews as well.
