How to sync app from ipad to ipod touch

I have some apps (from the Apps Store!) about maps of different cities with walking routes and points of interest identified on my iPad. I want to sync all of this to my iPod Touch, so that I won't have to carry the iPad on my walks. How do I do this? Any sync'ing that I do now is between the iMac and the iPad or iPod touch vis usb.

Any help (in plain English) would be appreciated.
