At least that's the message we have been gertting from ISPs and sites that monitor internet traffic.
Last night all Google services went off line for a few minutes, the search engine, and all google services, G-Mail etc.
If Google being off line for a few minutes and that causing a 40% drop in internet traffic
Totalausfall bei Google: 40 Prozent weniger Web-Traffic - SPIEGEL ONLINE
how can one relate that to the claim that 90% of the internet traffic is Spam?
If that were true, google going off line should have caused just a tiny blip.
PS: I just noticed that the English summary talks about "pageviews" which in my mind would exclude email and thus spam.
But the original German article talks about "world-wide internet activity"
Totalausfall bei Google: 40 Prozent weniger Web-Traffic - SPIEGEL ONLINE
which of course includes email and thus spam.
I find that more and more - shoddy reporting.
