Just purchased a Seagate 4TB "Hybrid" drive (ST4000DX001-1CE168) but am having problems mounting it in my MacPro (OS 10.9.1).
Pulled a full drive out of Bay 4, located this one in Disk Utility to format it, named it, set format to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as I always do and hit erase. Keep getting this message:
Disk Encryption failed
Disk Erase failed with the error:
POSIX reports: The operation couldnt be completed. Invalid argument
Same when I tried ExFat, etc
Interesting twist: this is the first time I've come across a "Hybrid" drive, supposed to have a solid state component to make it perform faster. Not sure how that works, and in fact it's not working at all in my machine.
Any thoughts?
