iMac - Mid 2007 "Screen Freeze"

Okay... This has been happening for a long time, just finally getting fed up with it and going to ask about it.

First off this was a new to me computer about 6-8 months ago.

20" Mid 2007 iMac. 2 GHZ C2D 4GB Ram.

ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT 128MB Ram Video

Long part of the story.... When i got my hands on it my friend had never really done much with it other then upgrade the ram, It was still running Tiger or Leopard (whatever the base install came with). So i proceeded to wipe the drive and do a fresh restore from the restore discs. Then upgraded to Snow Leopard, Mountain Lion and now Mavericks (10.9.5).

Every now and the screen will "Freeze" and i will have to do a hard shutdown (holding power until it turns off). I can move the mouse pointer around the screen But that's it. A folder will be half open or the Dock will half zoomed. It's like the video gets "stuck" trying to do something and never comes back. Literally the only action i can do i move the mouse and power the unit off manually.

At first i thought this was because i had it hooked up a second monitor.

Removed that from the equation and the problem went away for a while, but not permanently.

When this was happening with ML i was hoping the upgrade to mavericks would fix it if it were a video driver issue, nope.

Tried resetting PRAM, SMC, physically reseating the RAM.

I noticed a while back it was happening often when coming out of sleep mode, disabled that as well.

I am using this as my "Media Centre"/home office desktop so it doesn't get shut down often. When it does it seems it will freeze unless i leave it for about an hour after reboot.

Anyone have any thoughts, Seen this before?

My fear is it's an issue with the Video Card or Logic Board.
