I have said it on numerous occasions. So-called green initiatives usually fail to consider the entire equation. Case in point replacing those Incandescent light bulbs. Sounds good, it uses less electricity. Well not enough to actually see a difference on your bill but it does use less.
So what's wrong with that. Well the replacement LED and CFBs contain Mercury and Phosphors not the things we want going into our landfills. And this is Canada, so 9 months of the year that wasted heat from incandescents is not wasted, it helps to heat our homes. The other 3 months, light bulbs are not really needed thanks to very long northern summer days.
Then there is the fractured color spectrum and having the lights cycle on and off 60 times per second and of course radio interference.
Looking at the entire equation those environmentally green bulbs are anything but.
