The refurbished Apple TV 3 is now $85, down ten bucks, at the Apple online refurb store.
I ordered one and it showed an estimated delivery time of 7-8 business days, and arrived in two days.
Still no jailbreak (and many predict there never will be), but the Plex / Plex Connect solution is working for me.
I can stream all manner of video files from an old Mini without having to convert and import them into iTunes.
