My cousin is looking for a laptop for his wife for christmas. Not needed for heady duty use, just some accounting (quickbooks, not quickbooks online so needs windows) and internet surfing, very light stuff.
The reason he wants a PC is the fact that he knows Windows 7 and can help her when she has trouble. They have a 24" iMac and he just can't help her when she has questions. I have been looking for a Win 7 laptop, but they are scarce these days, everything is pretty much Win 8, which he is clueless about, just as I am clueless about Win 8. If buying a new laptop with Win 8, can't he hard drive be erased and Win 7 installed? Would there be any real cons with this? Not looking for touch screen or anything, just a good small laptop preferably with SSD. Most, if not all of the Win 7 laptops I see on new egg, or tiger direct all look big and bulky.
