Time is getting short to help a Canadian veteran / filmmaker in his project to assist a group of World War II veterans as they go back to France to pay respects to their fallen comrades.
This is a fabulous project, part of a larger national effort (Veteran's Voices of Canada ) to document the lives of Canadian veterans of all wars. I urge those ehMacers who have the means to offer support to the project. There's also a great DVD available for purchase.
TIA,
M

Return to Normandy 2014
Help us pay tribute to our NNSH D-Day Veterans!
The Return to Normandy 2014 group are those who either served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders or have family connections to original NNSHs. We will be visiting areas significant to the NNSH's in Normandy, and laying wreaths at ceremonial tributes and dedications. We would like to raise funds to allow us to also take several WWII Veterans from the North Nova Scotia Highlanders back to Juno Beach and Normandy for the 70th anniversary of D-Day in June 2014. If this is not possible then we will take an immediate family member (son, daughter).
The main fundraiser is the sale of DVD's entitled "The Fighting North Novies; Into The Fire" all donated to RTN2014 by producer Allan Cameron. All proceeds of the sales will go to support the journey. All donations great and small are gratefully accepted.
These DVD's contain interviews with North Novies who landed on Juno Beach during Operation OverLord. It also contains footage from Normandy of locations where the North Novies fought major battles with the German forces.
An added bonus of dvd of the visit will be given to those who donate $100.00 or more.
The immediate group will consist of;
- Allan Cameron-Organizer/Producer
- George Manthorne-1NSH Veteran/photographer/assistant
- Scott Moore-1NSH current serving member/assistant
- Jonathan Harrison-Re enactor/assistant
Through the funding we plan two fund two Veterans and caretaker(or immediate family members)TBA and
Ray Coulson (NNSH Museum founder/curator).
This is a tribute that must be accomplished for us to show appreciation and thanks to our Veterans. This could quite possibly be the last time we stand alongside these Veterans on French soil they liberated 70 years ago.
Help us pay tribute to our Veterans...it's the least they deserve...
Lest We Forget!
