iPad 1 battery replacement

My son has an ipad 1 in need of a battery replacement. Apple USA apparently replaces the ipad with a new or refurbished one for $99 plus shipping but I have been unable to get an answer from Apple.ca if that same service is available in Canada. I'm not too keen on paying $35 for a 'NO' answer.



Can anyone tell me if the replacement is offered in Canada and if not, can this unit be shipped to the US for replacement? Any help is sincerely appreciated
