2010 white Macbook bottom replacement "recall"

I'm sorting my daughter's stored items from when she moved back home after college and found a box with an old MB bottom cover that she received from Apple when there was a recall due to the rubber coming off.

The included instructions say to ship back the old defective parts otherwise Apple will charge full retail price for them/it.

Obviously it's too late anyhow, and we never received an invoice from Apple, so I'm thinking the paragraph about invoicing for failing to send in the old part must be in situations other than a recall ..?

Unless my daughter did eventually receive a bill which she paid and we're not aware of it.

So, just out of curiosity, did anyone here send in/not send in their defective MB bottom case back to Apple?
