So on the weekend I picked up an apple Macbook Air mid 2012 1.8ghz i5/8GB/256SSD 13" for $800 with only 56 battery cycle count.. mint condition. 1 year old. no scratches - barely used unit..
Then I bought for $ 297 CAD OWC SSD aura 6G drive 480 GBs - amazing drive and fast.
to confirm, I called OWC and they confirmed that the SSD has a build in Trim / Garbage Collection in the firmware, so no 3rd party trim is needed.. the tech support agent also mentioned once every quarter I should just 'erase free space' to for preventive maintenance.
The difference in speed is outstanding and mind blowing.. love it..
so total investment was $1097 - I think I scored :)
I just wanted everyone to be up today with trim and OWC SSDs
