I had a VCR video of a performance filmed of myself by a third party which I converted to a digital format. Process - VCR recording to DVD and then video converted.
I made 2 copies - one is mp4 format (744MB); the other is avi format (537MB).
The video quality is quite acceptable but the audio has suffered badly. It is inconsistent in volume, fading away and then coming back.
I am seeking help here. Should I use iMovie to extract the audio, attempt to adjust it in a sound editor and then paste it back to the video or is there a better way? Ideally I would like a recommendation for an application which would allow me to equalise the sound in the video. And even more ideally I would prefer not to pay big bucks should I be forced to purchase said application.
Thanks in advance
