Apple Watch and ecobee set up

I was given an apple watch by a client as a gift.
i have it all set up - one app is giving me a headache - ecobee - AC and Heating app
has anyone successfully got it working?
i reached out to ecobee and they are giving me typical flow chart support - delete, reboot log out in etc

which i have and nothing the ecobee just sits there with loading icon
