I've been with Rogers for 12 years, I have never had any issues with the company at any level and enjoy the level of service I get. Apple launched the iPhone in Canada and low and behold Rogers (at the time) was the exclusive carrier, excited beyond belief I paid out what I owed on my previous phone and grabbed the iPhone the day it landed.
I went from the iPhone 3G to the 4 and now I own the iPhone 5. The beauty thing is I never relegated my 6GB per month data plan and am grandfathered in to the plan that I think is best for me right now (even the Rogers guys at the retail level review my plan and can't touch what I am getting now)
The biggest problem is that Rogers keeps upping the fees, seems like holy crap I'm under all caps (voice/data/long distance etc.) but the bills are never the same. It seems like it is getting more and more expensive to maintain this level. The other day I reviewed my actual phone usage and it is embarrassing low (the most frequent number I get calls from is actually Rogers!) I never talk on my iPhone. It seems like a real waste of $60 some odd dollars per month.
What I am thinking of doing is grabbing a yet to be announced (Keynote tomorrow) iPad mini or iPad regular with LTE and using that as my primary communication to the outside world device. All my friends/family that have iDevices can still text with imessage and all my other friends/family can email me.
Has anyone here done this? shed their iPhone and gone iPad only?
Rogers data plans seem reasonable

Of course this might happen once my current contract runs out, I'm just looking for feedback from anyone who may have done this and if they had any regrets.
I forgot to ask this part about Rogers One Number... does it effectively turn your iPad into a phone?
