Hello all, I have an original (early 2008, i.e. the first ever) MacBook Air, the base 1.66GHz model with no options or upgrades. It was perfectly fine the last time I used it but I left it untouched for several months and when I booted it up again yesterday, there was a very strange problem with the screen. I can't even describe it. The colours are all off, text is blurry and unreadable (unless I highlight it), and everything looks dark and flickering. Once in a while there is a split-second flash of normal colour. I've attached a photo of a Google search page to show how weird it looks.
I don't think there's anything wrong with the video card because:
1) It looks perfectly normal when I attach an external monitor via the DisplayPort
2) I ran an extended Apple Hardware Test and it found no errors (well it found one, but it was regarding the hard drive and unrelated to video)
So there is something wrong with either the screen itself or more likely the connection between the display and the video card.
Obviously it's out of warranty. Do you guys think there's any hope for it?
