Keyboard/trackpad issue

I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro that has been working flawlessly until the other night; all of a sudden, my keyboard and trackpad became unresponsive with the cursor stuck in the upper left corner. I tried rebooting and tried a complete shutdown but still no keyboard or trackpad. I brought out my BT trackpad and keyboard and they were discovered and worked A-1. Two days later, my MBP keyboard and trackpad started working again and have since. My question: is this a warning of something getting ready to fail permanently or just a software glitch? Could it be a heat issue?

Specs: Early 2011 MBP 13", 2.3 i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB boot drive and 500GB HDD in place of optical drive. Running 10.9.1

I have searched the groups but issues like this seem to be more for the MBP Retina.

Thanks in advance.
