My early-2011, 16GB MacBook Pro is still running OS 10.6 Snow Leopard. I am thinking about upgrading it all the way to Mavericks, but not right away perhaps in a month or so when I know that all the software that I use are fully compatible.
I went to the Mac App Store, found the Mavericks upgrade page and saw the button "Free Upgrade". Clicked on that I saw the button changed to "Install App". What would happen next when I hit the button to start the download? I am assuming that it will get me the installer, then I can put it on a USB thumbdrive using Disk Utility to make a bootable drive. After that I will be able to do a clean install of Mavericks. Is this the sequence of events for a clean install?
