I've been using iTunes match since it started and have largely ignored what iTunes can do in a non-cloud setup.
Long story short I recently purchased a WD NAS drive and figured I''d load it up with movies and flac files.
When I open iTunes my NAS drive shows up so I clicked on it and saw all my flac files. To my astonishment I clicked on one flac file and it stared playing in iTunes! iTunes seems to convert the flacs to wav or mpeg format to play them. I checked the view option for "kind" of file to reveal that change.
Does anyone know how long iTunes been able to do this?
I now love iTunes again.
