Refurb iMac

I’ve been delegated as the one to buy a refurbished iMac. I’ve been watching and waiting for one with a SSD in the price range of $1500. I have till the 29th to get in on the extra air miles. I hear the 5400 HDD is the bottleneck for the iMac. Can anyone comment on that? Fusion may be a bit better. Am I wasting my time waiting for the SSD option on a refurb?
