For the New Year, I thought I'd change my attitude and previous experiences with it and give OS X Mavericks another try.
It has some nice new features and some not so nice ones I'm finding.
The most recent and most annoying problem for me is the incorrect mouse pointer/cursor that shows up, especially when browsing with Safari, using Mail and sometimes even using the Finder.
The problem is that way too often, the pointer will change to an I-beam (Insertion point), or sometimes a hand or big B&W + (plus) pointer etc., but in the wrong areas.
i.e.: when attempting to close a Safari, Mail or Finder window with the Red close button, the "pointer" may be stuck with one of the other pointers other than the real arrow pointer.
They will all actually work, but it's worse to get it to work when the I-beam becomes the pointer rather than the arrow and some fiddling needs to be done.
A google search lists many having mouse pointer problems with their upgrade to OS X 10.9.x, and this one is typical of my problem:

I have an almost virgin install of OS X Mavericks and the problem exists regardless of all the remedies I've tried: Safe Boot, SMC reset, another mouse (wired), shutdowns/restarts etc.
Anyone else having this problem or can suggest a solution?
Mid-late 2011 iMac 27" 20GB RAM and lots of free hard drive space.
BTW: Absolutely no such problems when booted from my SL volume.
So, I'm still not overly impressed with OS X Mavericks and some of it's quirks and changes, but I'll keep trying it.
