Trying to install "iLife Support 9.0.4"

After NUMEROUS attempts I keep getting this message:
Attachment 92994
Indicates something has happened to the downloaded file so the install won't complete, but won't clear it itself so that I can re-download!! How can I manually clear the corrupt installer? Where the hell do I find it?
Any help getting out of this issue would be appreciated..... (so far Google has NOT been my friend!! ;);)

TIA

Trying to reinstall OS

I have an iMac I want to do a clean install. I did what I would normally do, boot into recovery, clean the drive and then go into clean install. I get this error that "a required download is missing". I boot into internet recovery and it does something for about 10 mins with a spinning globe and a count down clock. When that finishes it sits on an Apple logo for 15 mins before I shut it down and boot into recovery again and try to install now. I get the same message. The OS that was on this iMac was Mavericks.

I thought I could just download an OS from the App store on my other iMac that I recently updated to Mojave. Well they changed the App store now and while I can see past purchases it does not show Apple OS's like it did before Mojave. So now I don't know how to get an installer so I can even attempt at making a bootable USB OS installer.

Anyone have an idea on how I can get a copy of Mavericks, or any newer Mac OS that will work on a 21" iMac? Not sure what year it is, but it does have an i5 so not a super ancient CPU.

BC's NDP call for an election - Oct 24 is the day

There has been speculation in the media about the possibility and now we know for sure.

The rationale seems a bit flaky to me as the minority government appeared to be functioning well with an NDP and Greens coalition. I've never been an NDP supporter but am impressed with Horgan ... not so much with the head of the Liberals ... what's his name? :)

Emails not showing up

My wife had been corresponding with her cousin. She is using a MacBook Air 2017 model. Recently her cousin has not been receiving my wife's emails. They do not bounce back so I assume they are getting through.

Prior to her current Mac she was using a MacBook Air 2011. Emails from this Mac are getting through. I have sent her email from my iPhone 7 and they have been getting through.

Her cousin is using a PC with Windows.

Any solutions?

Mac OS X Tiger for Mac Pro 1,1

G'day,

Where could I find a copy of Mac OS X Tiger that would run on my Mac Pro 1,1.

I contacted Apple and they can't help. eBay has some but the prices are ridiculous for such old software. Downloads from web searches seem a bit iffy.

Is there a clean source out there that I could tap in to?

Cheers.

RIP "SINC" Don Sinclair

With the recent posting of obituaries on this forum, it strikes me that no obituary was ever formally and publicly posted for SINC, who passed away on June 21 at age 75. Don joined EhMac on Feb 16th, 2001 and continues to hold the record for the second highest number of posts. Don will be remembered for his many lively and friendly contributions here on any number of subjects, from nature to politics to humour. He will be missed — he already is.

Quote:

Mr. Donald John Sinclair, of St. Albert, AB, died on June 21, 2020 at the age of 75. Don was born on June 25, 1944 in LaFleche, Saskatchewan. His parents, LT. F.J.W. and Mae Sinclair, moved Don to Swift Current where his sister Dianne (Martens) was born and the family settled. He graduated from Swift Current Collegiate Institute. In 1965, Don married Ann, and the couple had 3 children, Gregory, Crystal and Matthew. Don had originally wanted to be a veterinarian but while waiting for his acceptance letter to arrive he started his career in the newspaper industry. Don worked in several cities across the country and was an integral part of establishing the newspaper industry in Canada. In 1969 he joined Bowes Publishing Ltd. and went on to hold many positions including Pressman, Editor, Publisher, Group Publisher and Chief Operating Officer at several newspapers until finally settling in St. Albert, AB in 1988.

Don had a passion for nature, music and loved photography. He enjoyed road trips in his motorhome with his friends and family. He was a conversationalist and always had time to share a joke, beer or some friendly advice when consulted. He was also a classic car enthusiast and loved showing off his pride and joy - a 49' Ford Meteor. He was a big-time Saskatchewan Roughriders fan and loved his dog Ely who he affectionately called his "little buddy."

Don had a lifelong dedication to writing about challenging issues which he knew were important. He worked countless hours on his site (mybirdie.com) so his readers would become informed about the St. Albert community which he dearly loved. He cared, and he wanted you to as well. This was his platform to create dialogue, learn from and for others to gain different perspectives. It didn't matter if the opinions differed from his or not. He was always ready to engage in lively conversation and was never afraid to stir the pot. Don is loved and missed by his wife, Ann; children, Greg, Crystal, and Matt (Holly); grandchildren, Nick, Jett and Shiloh, great grandson Christian and sister; Dianne, inlaws, nephews, nieces and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Finlay and Mae. At Don's request, no service will be held.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice in Don's name.

RIP Dianna Rigg

One of the truly great actresses. I remember her best as Emma Peel. The Avengers was one of dad's favourite shows and I bet she was the reason. Sorry to see her go!

Quote:

The Game Of Thrones star, Dame Dianna Rigg died at the age of 82 after a secret battle with Cancer since March this year, revealed her daughter actress Rachael Stirling.

“My Beloved Ma died peacefully in her sleep early this morning, at home, surrounded by family,” Said Stirling in a statement “She died of cancer diagnosed in March, and spent her last months joyfully reflecting on her extraordinary life, full of love, laughter and a deep pride in her profession. I will miss her beyond words.”

The tragic news of Dianna Rigg’s death came as shock to her beloved fan base. The Dame was well known for her role as Olenna Tyrell in the world-famous Game Of Thrones series and for her role as Emma Peel in TV series The Avengers.

In addition, prior to her death, Dianna Rigg was also the only ever woman to become Mrs Bond in the James Bond Franchise. In the film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, she played the role of Tracy di Vicenzo.

7200rpm external drive significantly slowing down

One of my external hard drives has been slowing down more and more with each plugging in. The drive is 2.5-in. 7200rpm 1TB. I have noticed that it takes longer to mount the drive and lately longer and longer to show its content. The same problem appeared after I placed the drive in a different enclosure. As I am writing I have the drive hooked up to the 5K iMac that belongs to my friend, connecting via USB3.0. The drive is slightly over 50% filled. But about a month ago it was almost full, down to just under 2GB free space.

Transferring a small file is relatively fast, but to transfer 5GB of files would take more than 20 minutes.

I suspect that there are bad sectors or something else is not working right. Is the drive dying and this could be its last mounting? I have the drive hooked up to the 5K iMac until all the files are transferred over.

Browser Search

It's finally happened, Last stable release of FireFox running in ElCapitan.

Wondering what else is out there that continues to be supported on ElCap as I have absolutely no desire to further update my OS.

Failing that anyone had success or failure with High Sierra on a secondary partition, ElCap running on the primary? Doubt my 2011 MBP will go any higher.

Sluggish Contacts

Lately I've been getting beachballs and sluggish performance with Contacts on my Mac. I'm sure I'll be updating to Big Sur this Fall which will most likely take care of it, but, in the meantime, is it just a simple trashing of a pref file?

MBP Screen and Keyboard Marks

My mid-2015 MBP has marks on the screen that cannot be cleaned off and I'm assuming these are directly from the keyboard. I thought that only the old MacBooks and MBP had issues with that. Does the keyboard actually come in contact with the screen on newer versions? Probably slipping a piece of paper in between over the years would have been a good idea, but, I had it in my thinking that Apple rectified that problem with contact.
