Amazon Prime Videos Jerky and no Sound

Yesterday I went to Amazon Prime Video to watch a video. The video started then it became jerky and the sound became mute. Then the video froze.
Today I tried to begin viewing again and the same problem reoccurred.
When I viewed videos on YouTube and Instagram every thing was fine.
My Mac is an Apple M 1 MacBook Pro. It has 16 megs of memory. The OS is Sonoma 14.3

Prior to yesterday I had no problem with Amazon Prime Video.
My MacBook Pro is working fine with other functions.

Any ideas...

Apple Educational Back to School program starts, includes free AirPods

Not sure who is technically going back to school yet, but.. Apple's popular summer free headset this year includes AirPods, with the potential upgrade to AirPods Pro.

MacRumors has this starting today. Usually the offer proceeds through September.

Don't forget there is also the reduced educational pricing, though that isn't what it used to be.

This would be the first time the 'free' product is AirPods...

how do i block a user doing illegal download on my network

Good day there. do any of you know how to block an App to download a torrent?
i have someone doing a lot of torrent downloads on my network and ask to stop and keeps doing it.

I have a shaw cable router and an Apple "white tower" router and would love to know how to block the port of the app so called Transmission so it completely stop doing torrent download.

Mac mail - downloads duplicates of emails

I'm a bit frustrated.

For quite a few months now - my master email has been downloading duplicates into my Mac Mail. So for every email - I have 2 downloading. And the Mac Mail pops up every day or so - telling me that it has to recreate the inbox.

My email carrier is gmx - and I do have an alias on my main email (mostly because it got hacked and was sending junk)

I have tried deleting those two accounts from my computer and reinstalling them - but the duplication continues[ATTACH...

iPod Nano - how to restore factory settings?

New Year greetings to everyone here!

I have a question about using an old iPod. I think this model was called iPod Nano. It's 2-1/2" x 2" with a colour screen.

My wife isn't using it any more so I thought that I could use it ... but it was set up with the old iTunes - which she doesn't have now - and I can't figure out how to restore it to factory settings so that I can use it to put my music on it.

If I connect it to my iMac (macOS 12.7.2) it mounts on the desktop and my Finder shows it...

Inundated with fishing Banners

My wife's MacBook Air (2017-13", macOS 12.7.2) is constantly inundated with banners on the upper righthand corner of her screen. They are very short and want you to click on them. There are multiple reasons such as you have a virus or your files are being downloaded etc..etc.

I told my wife not to click on any of them.

1. I have cleaned out her history
2. I have used Antivirus Zap. When scanned no virus or malware were detected.

Can't install os 10.6

I need help. I have an older macbook around 1911 I think that i want to install OS 10.6 on. I had 10.7.5 on it but it was
wonkie. so i tried to erase the 10.7 and add 10.6 that's where the problems started. now i can neither add 10.6 or add 10.7 again using the reinstall function as my Mac ID won't work. How can I wipe my drive so i can install 10.6

"OpenOffice" cannot be opened

What's with Apple? I have been using OpenOffice for years on my Macs. In the past week or so I have been getting the following message on my M1 MacBook Pro when I try to use this app: "OpenOffice cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified. MacOS cannot verify this app is free from malware."

I down loaded the app again but I still get the same message. OpenOffice is not in the App Store. Is Apple trying to force you in downloading/purchasing their apps?

Apple device management for families

Is there a resource, on this Web site or elsewhere, that provides guidance for families in the ongoing issues around device management? My current problem is I want my kids to have phones with them when they're not in my care, but to share the same phone number across their personal devices. I've got us all using Apple products in order to makes things easier, but on this issue I'm in the dark.

Rosetta

Did a nice clean install on my new Mac (factory install was a bit buggy) and I have a couple apps (PDFPen Pro and MacX Video Converter) that want me to install Rosetta. It must have been installed at the factory but now I'm wondering if I want to install it again. Not sure whey some developers don't update their apps to work natively. Do any of you hesitate to install Rosetta and just look for a new app that will run natively on your Mac?

Booting 2023 MBP off External Drive

When connected to an external clones drive, my Mac never sees it when going into Startup Disk. On my older Macs, when that happened, restarting with the Option key held down would bring it up. Not on my new Mac. Is shutting down and then holding the power key on startup the only way to bring up a bootable drive on these new Macs?

iCloud family sharing after divorce

Is there a way to keep both parents in an iCloud family so they can both approve purchases for a minor, but not have both linked to one credit card and see each other’s purchases? I am really having trouble finding an answer to whether Apple has fixed this oversight.

What if any privacy benefits social media via browser vs apps.

Curious if I do all my social media engagements via a browser as oppose to having the app (with various settings turned off or on) if it's more private. With facebook via browser for example I know I am only giving access to my device's stored files on a per need basis and not all the time. Too via browser I do not need to give access to my iPhone's contact list. I do know iPhone has a number of settings that can be turned off for privacy, do not know if this makes the social media apps...
