You may find that your Mac or PC has trouble connecting to the Via Rail wifi network. The free service requires that you login and accept the terms of use on an internal web page. However you may not be able to load this web page – if you have your DNS servers hard coded (entered by hand) to something like Google’s DNS servers. The preferred way to connect on these “guest” networks is to leave the DNS entry blank. When you connect to the service the internal network server will supply the DNS that allows your computer to find the web page, where you can accept the terms. This DNS snafu may also apply on a guest network at a hotel or coffee shop. On My Mac, I made a new location called “ViaRail WiFi” and left the DNS empty. When I get back to my home/office network, I will switch it back to my own preferred settings. |
'Looks like scoring a used iPhone just got a bit more tricky.(Details: Mashable)
Apple's iCloud Activation Lock tool—which allowed potential buyers to check if a used iOS device (i.e. iPhones, iPads, iPod Touches and Apple Watches) is tied to an active account—appears to have been removed from iCloud.com. The change was first noticed by MacRumors.
A shooting at a Quebec City mosque Sunday night has left five people dead and others wounded.(Global News)
It occurred at the Centre Culturel Islamique de Quebec, the mosque’s president told media. Local reports say the 911 call came in around 7:55 p.m. ET.
“Why is this happening here? This is barbaric,” said the mosque‘s president, Mohamed Yangui.
Police say two people have been arrested, but have not confirmed the number of dead or wounded. They also say the situation is now under control and RCMP and the Sûreté du Québec are helping with the investigation.
Reports say there were dozens of people inside when the shooting occurred. Police say the occupants have since been evacuated.
