Anyone running a 2008 iMac?

Hi all, is anyone out there running a 2008 iMac? I'm currently using Lion 10.7.5 after an SSD install and was wondering if I should upgrade the OS. My concern is a slowdown in speed with a newer OS. Will Mountain Lion slow my system down? Can I (should I) go even higher? Any suggestions would be welcome.
