Transfering Files iMac to Macbook Pro

Hi

I still do most of my work on my iMac/El Capitan 10.11.6 and also have a new Macbook Pro/OS Sierra 10.12.6.

When I finish working on a file on the iMac what is the best method to push it over into the Macbook to take off-site with me?
