Yikes!

Was getting the eMac ready to send off for recycling. As it was doubtful it would have run long enough to do a secure erase of the HD, decided to pull it instead.



This was certainly not intended to be user serviceable. Forgetting the surplus screws there were way too many things I simply bent to get them out of the way. Even so dis/re-assembly took about an hour and I was not worrying about reconnecting various cables and grounds.



However I now have a 1 GB RAM stick for a USB 2 eMac, if some one can put it to work. Also have an airport extreme card.



Will keep the ATA Superdrive as a spare for the MacPro.



Given the deteriorating lifespan of the modern HD and the need to be able to replace with an SSD Apple is not doing itself any big favours by making HD access so difficult on some of its computers.
