printer question - laser vs inkjet

So not sure where to post this as it is not a Mac question but is a tech question. I am looking to replace a Xerox laser printer for office use with something that will last longer and cost less. The xerox desktop printer is pricey when it comes time to change toners, it needs drums and all the rest. I was looking at these new Epson EcoTank printers. Higher printer cost, but much cheaper and longer lasting ink. While the ink is cheaper, is there anything else in these things that would need to be replaced that wear out over time?

I use inkjet, but my inkjet printer is 44" wide. It is pretty much problem free, just load ink, clean the print heads and I am off and running. Is the same true for the small desktop inkjet printers? No other parts equivalent to drums or fusers for these smaller printers? Or is it really just add the ink, set it and forget it!
