how to get Instagram onto MBP?

This shouldn't be hard but I can't figure out how to get it on my computer. I downloaded it from the iTunes store into iTunes and it appeared that it would then load onto my iPod when I next connect it but I don't want it on my iPod, I want in on my laptop.

Can you access Instagram online only or do you have to have it on the computer?

How do I get it only on my computer?
