Belkin WeMo Home Automation - review

In the efforts of being fully automated.. I have the HoneyWell Tuxedo [zwave controller-alarm system ] with house lights/door lock control fully automated features like programing options [lock&unlock from your iPhone or type in your code in door and lights turn on and engage or disengage alarm ].. works amazingly.. somewhat expensive, but the pro is you can control it from your iDevice, Web Console and Panel in the home. Plus the z Wave creates a mesh which helps the signal through your home. The Negative is you have to have a monthly fee for portal/monitoring part of your alarm. $25/monthly. Still better than rogers and cheaper not to mention has GSM back up line cut feature.

So I figured i would do the rest of the house by Belkin the have Wifi light switches and power plug remote switches.. no monthly fee, as long as Belkin stays in businesses. :D as it feeds of their servers..

The Good.. The light switches work as advertised Remotely and Locally turn on / off your room light by iPhone or on a rule/pre programed event..

The Bad.. the plug switch : SUCKS CRAP!!!! - works for 20 mins then acts up and looses connection.. if you want a hobby of reseting it and praying when your not home if it will be available... [will be returning it for version 2 called insight.. hope its better ]

if the version 2 of Belkins plugged switch gives me the same grief I will decide to use the z wave option with my alarm system/automation..

zwave options: require a controller [ alarm panel or remote base, so unless you have that already it won't be worth your time.. ]

hope this helps anyone who wanted to venture in to automation.
