Thanks Coke!

Coca-Cola reduces sugar, introduces smaller cans in Canada

Quote:

Coca-cola canada announced today it will be reducing the sweetness of its main coke product in an effort to reduce the calorie intake of canadian diets.

The concentration of syrup added to the canadian recipe will be decreased to the same level of sweetness found in coke products elsewhere in the world. This will cut calories by approximately eight per cent.

Thanks Coke. It was till carrying the old calorie label but I bought a small 414cc bottle of what has to be the new stuff almost a week ago. Those who remember the original New Coke debacle will be surprised to learn that compared to this swill, the New Coke of the 1990s was absolutely bursting with flavour.

That little bottle is still almost half full. I take just a tiny sip every day to remind myself to save my money. In the meantime sun brewed iced tea should solve the caffeine cravings and a lot more flavour to boot.

I am sure that Coke will compensate for those smaller containers and the loss of customers with a big price hike.
