I'm just changing my very beat up 2008 MBP with a 2015 Refurbished i7 quad core MBP from the Apple store. The new "beast" comes with 256 gig of flash memory.
I've kept my old MBP going with copious amounts of duct tape and by upgrading memory and installing 2 SSD's - a 256 and a 500 gig.
So it would make sense to pull those SSD's out and use them for the new machine - i reckon its 256 gig of flash will fill up pretty quickly with the OS and apps, so it would be good to have some space for data.
I'd originally thought I could simply get 2 1/2 inch enclosures for the SSD's and connect them with USB 3. Then I realized that the new MBP has Thunderbolt slots, which would be much faster than USB 3.
So my question is - can you buy a SSD enclosure that connects via Thunderbolt? I guess it would need a SATA connector to connect to the SSD, and a Thunderbolt to connect the enclosure to the MBP.
Do they even make this type of stuff? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Walt
